DESIGNED FOR ACCESS
More than a canvas.
Cosmic Life uses semantic HTML controls, visible keyboard focus,
generous touch targets, plain-language instructions, live text
status updates, and numerical population and generation readouts.
The rules and color meaning are provided in text, so essential
information does not rely on the canvas or color alone.
A monochrome display mode is available without changing the
simulation or discarding cell ages.
The layout adapts to small screens and high zoom. It respects
reduced-motion and forced-color preferences where supported.
KEYBOARD CONTROLS
Navigate the universe.
Use Tab to focus the game grid. With the grid focused,
press Space to play or pause and C to clear.
Arrow keys reveal and move a high-contrast cell cursor around the
wrapping grid; press Enter to toggle the selected cell.
The whole playfield is outlined when it receives focus. After an
arrow key is used, the outline moves to the selected cell and its
position is announced. All visible controls are reachable with
Tab.
On touchscreens, one finger draws cells while a two-finger pinch
remains available for native browser zoom.
Accessibility is an ongoing process. If you encounter a barrier or
